Our goal for students who are inclined to entrepreneurship is for them to develop skills and expertise which will enable them to become part of the formal economy. To this end, we will create awareness of Pan African organisations such as the Tony Elemelu Foundation (TEF). TEF’s vision is to create 10,000 start-ups across Africa over the next 10 years (2015-2025). Sacefi will prepare such students to be able to compete for funding from organisations of this type.
We work with communities in the context of an African centred reality, as alluded to above in both our Academic, and Entrepreneurship Goals. We provide knowledge and skills to enable these communities to be self-sufficient by producing finished, market ready products. These goals are achieved by creating awareness of funding and training sources to assist in education access, light manufacturing, and small scale industry carried on at home by family members using their own equipment (cottage type industry) for producing products which are desired by the growing African middle class, as well as the African diaspora.
